IT'S HISTORY! YES IT HAPPENED!

On Tuesday, November 04, 2008 at 8:00pm PST, I witnessed along with the many millions around the world what I never thought was possible. For the first time in the history of the United States of America we voted and elected Barack Obama, a Columbia and Harvard educated biracial senator from Illinois as our 44th President.

It is momentous for the generational change it heralds, the geographic realignment it reflects and the racial progress it both acknowledges and promises. Most of all, Mr. Obama's victory is momentous for the opportunity it presents to put the country on a new and better path.

From Kenya to Britain, Indonesia to Korea, many people see signs of hope. Myself, I hope to see lots of change over the next four years and I really look forward to it.

End of an era at Yankee Stadium

The House That Ruth Built closes after 86 glorious years of baseball - and much more.

The curtain came down on the House That Ruth Built Sunday night, as the New York Yankees played and won their final home game at Yankee Stadium 7-3 and now start looking ahead to moving across the street next year to a new, $1.3 billion park.

As I sat at home watching hours of telecast before the first pitch even took place, my family knew not to even bother asking me to do anything. As I would stay clued to the television for the next five plus hours watching the pre-game show, the ballgame, and the post-game.

The stadium was home to the Yankees for the past 86 years except for two seasons while it was remodeled in the mid-1970s. It played host to 26 Yankees World Series championship teams but also was the site for many significant moments in pro and college football, boxing and non-sports events such as Catholic Masses celebrated by three popes.

Yankee Stadium opened in 1923 as a showcase for Babe Ruth, who was in the process of changing the game of baseball forever with his prodigious home-run power. The first park to carry the name "stadium," it was unique in every way, from its cavernous size to the distinctive copper frieze along its roofline. Much of that charm was lost during the renovations, but it remained baseball's most prestigious destination and, to many, retained the intangibles that made it special.

I'm going to miss Yankee Stadium, but I am sure that once I get a chance to make it to New York and see a ballgame in the new stadium I will fall in love with that one as I did with the original.

FYI, I'm still here!!!

Looking back over the last few months, I realize just how little of substance I've posted. And unfortunately, this post isn't really substantive either.

I'd hoped to get some serious reading and writing done this summer. But that didn't happen. Maybe this fall.

Tomorrow I take off for Vegas; then a little more than a week off before I decide to head to Mexico City for a week or two.

I have a few things I'm working on and need to finish up, but hope to spend most of the time consulting and working on three projects I have going on (referral network, custom uniform's, and LEED consulting).

How I Celebrated The End Of The School Year!

Of course! What other possible thing could you have thought I would've done... Share some beer with my people and get some much needed sleep.

The End is Near!

In addition to today being the last day of the spring semester; I'd just like to say that I know there has been an unbearble lightness of posting. Rather surprisingly, this is the first semester since I've been at USD that I am going crazy during this time of the year. Today I had my final finance classes, and all that's left are five final exams.

Posting will likely be light over the next few weeks (months?), perhaps because I will be graduating from school and looking for a job, or perhaps because I will be trying to enjoy some r&r from typing. I'm so distracted by anticipation, it's hard to have two coherent thoughts in a row.

Well, I will try to keep everyone posted as to what is going on but for now things are finally coming to an end. I am looking forward to posting some graduation pics in a couple of weeks.
